  what i find funny is that since i was a kid, they were saying that "armageddon is just around the corner" and now, for about the last 4 or 5 years, they've been saying "we've already rounded the corner... armageddon's right there. STRAIGHT AHEAD!! right in front of you. CAN YOU, WITH YOUR EYES OF DISCERNMENT, SEE IT BROTHERS AND SISTERS???" (wait for applause). no i can't see it. i still dont know the day or the hour. IDIOTS

  Did you ever experience "Joy"?

  one thing that always struck me was the rather dour nature of the organization.

  i know people laugh, and at seem to have a good time, at least occasionally.

  however, one thing i just haven't seen is a real outpouring of joy, like david dancing like a crazy man or some of the other occassions in the scriptures when it seems like people were almost overcome with joy.. anyone here ever feel real joy as a witness?

  everyone hates it but feel like they have to love it. everyone has bags under their eyes. my "spiritual" mother prays for rain on saturdays and snow on thursdays. everyone loves a meeting cancellation. and when my mother pioneers and i hear her say expressions like "i have to get my time", "im behind on my time", "i only have 45 hours"... etc... it really reminds me why i stopped doing the whole JW thing. how can my spirituality be based whether i get a pat on the back by a PO, a CO, or if im super lucky, a DO?!?!?

  i opened the daily text yesterday at dinner with my family, and at first glance i see the scripture quotation of april 20. short and to the point, i must admit.... "she just made us come.

  "- acts 16:15. as funny as that scripture is by itself, what's funnier is that there is so much more to verse 15. i dont know if someone did that on purpose, but it's just such a weird piece of scripture to put, without putting the first part of the scripture there, so that it actually makes some kind of sense and means something.

  i read the text at least twice a week and i have found that they do that frequently.

  hi , Im surprised you read the daily text. I thought only people who were really interested about the truth read it, not apostates. O well... do you go to the mettings?

  no i do not... but the text is right there at dinner and i look to see if there is anything of interest. and by "interest", i mean stupid. and i found something. and i posted it! and that's it!

  "around swarms the devil's crowd like bees that were molested. but i can never beat them off." - as true today, as it was when it was written. it is really hard to beat off molested bees. they just won't allow it for some reason.

  I read the text at least twice a week and i have found that they do that frequently. they put such short scripture quotations that dont really say anything and apply it at least 98% of the time to how we should be loyal to the organization and follow the lead of the elders or something like that. Just another way to get in our heads each morning before we do anything.

  P.S. now im on the lookout for what the first part of my post was about... inuendo in watchtower publications. most of us have seen imagery in the pictures of the publications, now we can all be on the lookout for little inuendos stuck in wherever possible.

  i remember as a kid being freaked out by two pictures.

  one was of the demons floating away leaving their screaming wives and babies during the flood, and the other was the collage with the gas mask guy and the kid holding his hands over his ears and the dead guy with the chopsticks..... oh yes, did i mention that i wasn't allowed to watch the care bears movie as a kid because of the "frightening and demonic" scenes?
